Section 01
Getting started
Yes, painfully so. FLUX Energy is licensed under the Consumer Protection Act (Alberta): Retail Electricity Licence #359959 and Retail Natural Gas Licence #359960. Both numbers are in the footer of every page.
About two minutes. Enter your postal code to see your rate, confirm your details, and we handle the rest, including notifying your current provider. Your service never goes off.
No. Your physical connection to the grid never changes. All that changes is the company that bills you. There's no downtime, no site visit, and no reason to be home.
No. Once you sign up with FLUX, we automatically handle the notification and transition. You don't need to call anyone.
Section 02
Plans & pricing
Fixed secures a rate for 12 or 24 months, predictable, good if you don't want to think about the market. Variable follows the Alberta wholesale price, cheaper on average over time but with more month-to-month swings. You can switch between them any time with FLUX, no penalty.
No. Every charge on your FLUX bill has a plain-language description. The only things you pay for are the electricity or gas you actually used, the standard regulated transmission/distribution charges that go to the wires provider, and GST. That's it.
No. Ever. FLUX has no exit fees on any plan. If we're not a good fit, leave whenever you want. The best customer retention strategy is being worth staying for.
Your rate is based on your service area (determined by your postal code), your chosen plan type (fixed or variable), and current wholesale energy prices. You see the final number before you sign up, not after.
Section 03
Solar & KARMA
No. FLUX Energy is not affiliated with UtilityNet or its Solar Club program, which many Alberta solar brands market under their own names. We hold our own Alberta retail licences (#359959 electricity, #359960 natural gas) and built our own solar rate, FLUX SunWise. It switches automatically each billing period: 35 cents/kWh in months you export more than you use, 5.45 cents/kWh in months you import more, so winter imports are billed at the low rate.
Yes. FLUX SunWise is built for Alberta microgeneration: each billing period settles at one rate based on your net position, 35 cents/kWh in months you export more than you use, 5.45 cents/kWh in months you import more. The switching is automatic every billing period, no forms and no phoning in twice a year.
When a new FLUX customer signs up through your personal referral link, you both earn a $50 referral credit once they pay their first bill. The $50 is applied as $10 per month over 5 consecutive bills, automatically, against any FLUX charge. No caps, no expiry on earned credits, no tiered rewards.
Yes. KARMA credit applies automatically in $10/month instalments against any FLUX charge, electricity, natural gas, or bundled. Credits are tied to your active Agreement: if your service ends before all 5 instalments have applied, the remaining ones stop, and KARMA credit can't be used to offset a balance you still owe when you leave.

Support & account
Phone or email: 1-844-572-FLUX (3589) or hello@fluxenergy.ca. Our Calgary office is staffed Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 6pm, by real humans, no phone trees, no overseas call centers, no holding for twenty minutes.
The online account portal launches alongside your service. Until then, anything you need (usage, payments, KARMA referrals, a copy of a bill) is one email away: hello@fluxenergy.ca, or call the Calgary office and a human will handle it.
Yes. FLUX accepts credit card, pre-authorized debit, and e-transfer. Auto-pay is optional and never required.
We're new; the systems behind your bill are not. Payments run through Helcim, a Calgary payment processor, alongside established utility-billing partners that handle these functions for energy retailers across Alberta. Your card and banking details are captured and stored by Helcim, never on FLUX servers. We see that your bill is paid, not the numbers you paid it with.
If your account closes with a credit of $5.00 or more, we refund it by Interac e-transfer on request, so just ask. Credits under $5.00 aren't refunded. If you paid a security deposit, that comes back automatically with its interest when the account closes. Unapplied KARMA instalments stop at your final bill.
Give the office a call or email hello@fluxenergy.ca. We'll handle the service transfer to your new address, same plan, same rate, no signup fees.
