The regulated default is the Rate of Last Resort, what an Alberta business pays when it never chose a retailer. It is posted publicly and frozen through December 31, 2026, then resets, by up to 10%. Ours holds for the full term.
Natural gas
Certainty, not a savings claim.
The regulated gas default is the month's gas cost passed straight through and re-set every month: from Dec 2025 to Nov 2026 it moved between $0.94 and $3.39 a GJ. Some months it sits below any fixed rate, so we do not count gas as savings. Our variable plan works the same way, the market price plus $0.99 a GJ. A fixed gas rate is one number for the whole term: a restaurant or a warehouse that heats all winter knows its gas cost in September.

All figures before GST. Energy charge plus our $0.31/day administration charge per meter, the only retailer fee on the bill. Delivery, riders and GST apply with every retailer and are left out. Savings are on electricity only, against the posted Rate of Last Resort. $0 exit fee on any plan: staying is a choice, not a clause.
