About these numbers

Savings estimates are illustrative. Fixed plans compare the rate you enter against FLUX's currently published Alberta rate card (Fixed 1 year at 6.76¢/kWh for electricity, Fixed 1 year at $3.46/GJ for natural gas), on the usage you enter. Variable plans all follow the same market price (the AESO pool price for electricity, the Alberta gas market for natural gas), so they are compared on the retailer charge (also called a transaction fee or index transaction fee) and the daily admin fee against FLUX's 0.99¢/kWh, $0.99/GJ and $0.31/day. Regulated transmission and distribution charges, rate riders, local access fees, and GST are the same under every retailer and are not included. Alberta's default rates are published by the Utilities Consumer Advocate and the pool price history by the Alberta Electric System Operator; both are refreshed here daily. Market history is shown for context only: past electricity and gas prices are not an indication of future prices, and a variable plan can cost more or less than a fixed plan over any given term. A fixed rate applies to the energy you use during the term ahead; for natural gas it is priced against a monthly volume based on your usage history, with any excess or unused volume settled as set out in our Terms and Conditions. Your actual bill varies with service area, billing period length, your consumption, and any existing contract exit fees. Rates can change.
